Hi Michelle. It's Amy! Remember me? I'm that sister that you were totally hanging out with yesterday. I know it's not been very long since we talked, but I almost started to forget about you and I was worried that you might forget about me too, so I decided to write a blog post. Here is a list of some things. I formulated them into a list for a reason that doesn't make any sense. I just like making lists.
1) Disregard anything I said in the previous paragraph. Of course I haven't forgotten who you are! I saw a picture of you today on Facebook and it all came back to me.
2) There's a thunderstorm outside. I never actually see outside while I'm at school, and since I'm currently in the computer lab there are no windows for me to see a thunderstorm, but it must be pretty bad out there because I just heard a really long bit of thunder over the hum of computers and the clamor of several quasi-college students frantically typing out their status updates.
3) I have just had two cups of coffee in the WC so I'm a bit hyper, even though I don't feel very good at all.
4) I skipped yoga today! See previous point.
5) When we were at B&N the other day (all right, it was last week), I saw two books that I really really want. One of them was the prequel to the Bartimaeus trilogy. It's called The Ring of Solomon and it looks cool. I love Jonathan Stroud. I also saw the very last Alex Rider book is now out. It's called Scorpia Rising. I have a special place in my heard for the Alex Rider books not only because they accompanied me throughout my rocky early teens (not even kidding, I started reading them when I was twelve. Twelve.), but also because I read the previous book, Crocodile Tears, while I was on the train from Cambridge to Edinburgh. It's incredible how much more enjoyable a book becomes when you're in the country it's set in.
6) Speaking of settings, I was wandering through Netflix the other day and I came across this show I'd never heard of called Jericho. I've gotten to a point where I sort of skip over anything that has less than a four-star rating so I'm not tempted to watch anything really horrible. Anyway, this show Jericho had a good rating and it said that it was set in small-town Kansas. You can't just skip past a show set in the Midwest. At least, I can't. Anyway, I watched the first couple of episodes. I can't tell you if I like it or not, because I wasn't paying attention to the story as much as being weirded out that the people on the TV were talking about familiar things like Kansas City and Sedalia and I-70 and Wichita. People! On the TV! Talking about things in Kansas! Anyway, it was cool. I don't know if I'll continue. Maybe later, when I'm not stressing out about the end of the semester.
7) So I enrolled in classes at UCM yesterday. I'm finally going to get to be in classes that have something to do with my major! Namely, education. Most of it is going to be me going to the local middle school/high school and observing teachers in the classroom. I think it'll be fun. I'm also taking a biology class and a British Lit. class and a required Library class (research skills, dumb). I was heartened when I was walking around the campus because I saw a lot of people there who I can imagine myself being friends with. And that's the first step to having friends! Right? Anyway, I'm feeling better about my future college experience.
Word vomit! I have to let it all out or else my suppressed emotions will manifest in other, more explosive ways.
Anyway, I have to get to Personal Communication. Ciao!
-Amy
P.S. Never let me say Ciao again.
