Not Another Like Me

I kind of feel like this is the story of my life.
You know how when you are little you want to be just like everyone else, you want to be cool? Well, when you grow up, I guess sometimes you do end up being cool like everyone else, liking what everyone else likes and wearing what everyone else wears. Its not like peer pressure, its like conformity. You do/wear/listen to whats cool for people your age, and you fit in. But when I turned 13, that idea really changed for me, and I started listening to different music that my friends, (in reality, I listened to the music my friends listened to when they were 11 when I was like 7, and then I started listening to other music because thats what my family did, and then when I turned like 11, I started listening to what my friends were listening to, and then I turned 13), wearing different clothes and doing different things.

It was like everything that everyone else did was suddenly not the cool thing to do for me, and I didn't care about what was the cool thing, because I wanted to make a statement and do what I wanted.

Sometimes when one of my friends asks me if I like a song and I say no, they ask me why.

Why? I don't know, because I just don't like it. Why do you like it?

Why do you do what everyone else does, when you can have a more fun time listening to what you enjoy, and wearing what makes you feel good? Because you want to be cool in their eyes? Why do you want to be cool to someone whos definition of cool is different than yours?

Why would you ever what to be the same when you can be different and stand out?

I guess why I'm saying this is because I've been thinking about dance a lot, and people who dance.

Dance is the most diverse group in the whole world, closely followed by singers.

The reason singers aren't as crazy different from each other is because, apart from opera, yodeling and serious rap business, most singers can sing both extremes.

But with dancing, a ballet dancer can't break dance, and a street dancer can't just ballroom dance. (unless they are Moose.)

Dancing is amazing, and dancers aren't afraid to be themselves, and I LOVE it.

Its so funny, when you walk into my drama place, (which specializes in dance), you can tell who are the ballet dancers, and who are the modern/jazz dancers.

The ballet dancers often wear tutus and white or black soffee shorts, and just shirts. They all have their hair up in a pony tail and rarely wear make up.

The Jazz/modern dancers wear either (a) gold spandex shorts with black tights (b), bright blue soffee shorts and purple tights (c) or those bright pink shorts that say DANCE on the back, with any color tights, just as long as they are colorful. On top they usually are wearing either (a) just a really colorful t shirt (b) a ripped/big shirt with a tank top under. Their hair is awesome, and they are pro's with the eye make up, and their nails are constantly colored. Usually sparkly pink or blue.

And I love them. So much.

I watched Step Up 3D if you were wondering.
